Mangalore, Mar 7: New elected President of the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy Prof. M Janaki Brahmavar said that Academy has Tulu text books for Class VIII and IX and will shortly Class X.
Speaking at the press meet held at press meet at the Academy Office on March 6, Thursday, she said that large number of students must opt tulu as the language in schools and this will help in including it in a Eighth Schedule of Constitution.
She also said that academy from past ten months have been hindered chalk out an action plan for the promotion of the language due to the absence of a President and further plans will decided once the Government allot the funds for academy after the election are over.
Janaki also assured to start a Tulu Sanghas in educational institutions and certificate and diploma courses in Tulu.
The Government has allotted the fund of Rs 7 crores for the establishment of Tulu Bhavan and around 40 per cent of the works are complete by spending the Rs 3 crores.
The other newly appointed members of the Academy are Vasanth Shetty Bellare, Roopakala Alva, Krishnappa, Raghuveer, Prof.Vedavathi, DM Kulal, Jayasheela, Mohan Koppala, Subhashchandra Padival and Durgaprasad Rai.
