Mangalore, Jan 21: On Monday afternoon in the city of Sannanagar near Kulai a gang of assailants brutally assaulted a youth with an iron rod.
The incident took place when Kalandar Shakeel, son of Jakriabba of Kulai was on way home for lunch from his shop Tavakkal Enterprises at around 12.35 pm. His bike was intercepted just about 100 meters away from his house. Though Shakeel abandoned his bike and fled, the assailants once again accosted him and attacked him with iron rod.
In this time Jaleel said that, “The victim Shakeel who has been hospitalized has suspected the hands of activists of a Hindu organization behind the attack. A few Hindu Jagarana Vedike activists had raided my shop in 2012 and had assaulted me and another person named Jamaluddin. A case has been lodged. However, some people were pressurizing us to withdraw the complaint. But we had turned down the state and had even appeared before the court for hearing. There is a possibility of someone attacking me out of animosity,” In this case Mangalore Police Commissioner R Hithendra has promised to consider the case seriously and initiate stringent action.
