Customs Officers seized gold wires coated with silver paint at Mangalore Airport

Mangalore, Nov 20: Customs Officers at Mangalore International Airport seized gold wires worth Rs 28 lakh from Air India Express Dubai – Mangalore flight passenger at Mangalore International Airport on November 19.

Once again two Kasargod-bound passengers who arrived at Mangalore airport at 7.30 am on Tuesday via Air India Express were caught for smuggling 920 grams of gold, worth around Rs 28 lac, in a suitcase.

The gold was shaped into a wire. When customs officials passed the suitcase through the screen, they grew suspicious and found the gold hidden in the suitcase in the form of wires coated with silver paint.

The passengers have been identified as Abdul Nazeer Bannur and Abdul Jaleel Talangara Ismail. Both of them have been arrested and the gold has been seized.
