His Highness Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, has issued an Executive Council Resolution No (15) of 2016, which approves the fees for a number of services provided by Dubai Police.
The new Resolution aims to enable Dubai Police to further develop and enhance services provided to its customers.
The Resolution stipulates that Dubai Police can charge for services listed in the table of fees annexed to this Resolution.
Charges for services
These services include transporting light and heavy vehicles and motorbikes from one place to another in the emirate; moving light and heavy vehicles, cranes, containers and other similar vehicles off the road; and detaining light and heavy vehicles at their designated areas.
The Resolution further outlines newly introduced fees for services such as issuing certificates and permits as well as inspecting traffic accident sites.
Further to the new Resolution, Council Resolution No (5) of 2011 pertaining to fees for services provided by Dubai Police is considered null and void.
The new Resolution annuls any other provision that contradicts or challenges this Resolution. The new Council Resolution is valid from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
Earlier this year, an Executive Council Resolution No (2) of 2016 was issued on fees for ambulance services provided at the site of traffic accidents. The Resolution was considered valid from February 28, 2015.
Dubai Police and Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services charge a fee of Dh6,770 for emergency and evacuation services provided to each casualty in a traffic accident, which will be collected from the insurance provider of the party that caused the accident.
In April, an Executive Council Resolution No (9) of 2016 on the amendment of the fee schedule related to licensing of professionals working in the field of ambulance services was issued.
The resolution replaces the fee schedule annexed to the Executive Council Resolution No (2) of 2011.
Airport service charges
The police and ambulance services are not the only one to levy charges on customers and residents, but earlier this year, Dubai and Sharjah Airports also introduced a charge on using the airport services.
Passengers using the Dubai airport will now have to pay a fee of Dh35.
Shaikh Hamdan had approved Executive Council Resolution No (8) of 2016 pertaining to the collection of fees from passengers using airport facilities in Dubai.
As per the resolution, every passenger leaving the UAE from any of Dubai’s airports, including transit passengers, will be charged Dh35 as a service fee for using airport facilities.
