Mangaluru, June 26: “International Anti-drug Day” and awareness program was jointly organized by the Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, Mangaluru Taluk and Akhila Karnataka Jana Jagruthi Vedike, Mangaluru on Friday, June 26th in front of the Deputy Commissioners office here.
School children, youths, educated people, including women will fall prey to drugs. This is one of the world’s unseen murderer which is responsible for the death of thousands of people. It is really sad that the people of this century are being attracted to the drugs, said MLC Ivan D’Souza after inaugurating the event.
The World Health Organization in 1956 had announced that the habit of drugs consumption is a fatal disease; drug addiction is one among the five deadly diseases of the world. The intoxication disease not only pose bad impact on a individuals, physical, mental, family, social, religious and financial developments; but also effect his prestige and spoil his life. It is impossible for those to get rid of the abuse who have fallen prey to the drugs. A drug addict should be motivated, guided and given appropriate treatment which is the one of the utmost necessary social work to be handled.
