New Delhi: While there has been buzz that the Centre may award Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Ramdev, two gurus with wide following among Hindus, with Padma awards, both have expressed their unwillingness to accept it.
While Sri Sri has turned down home minister Rajnath Singh’s request to accept the award, Ramdev has written saying that he as a “sadhu” would not like to be felicitated.
“I have got to hear from TV channels and newspaper reports that the central government wants to award me the Padma Vibhushan. I express gratitude from the bottom of my heart for the government’s goodwill,” Ramdev’s letter says.
“I am a Sanyasi and consider it my duty to follow my sanyas, national and seva (service) dharm without expectations or attachments. With great humility and gratitude, I request that I be done a favour by providing this award to some other deserving person doing praiseworthy work.”

ಪದ್ಮ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಬೇಡ ಎಂದ ರಾಮದೇವ್, ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ರವಿಶಂಕರ್
ನವದೆಹಲಿ: ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಗುರುಗಳಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ರವಿಶಂಕರ್ ಮತ್ತು ಬಾಬಾ ರಾಮದೇವ್ ಅವರು ದೇಶದ ಎರಡನೇ ಅತ್ಯುನ್ನತ ನಾಗರಿಕ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ‘ಪದ್ಮ ವಿಭೂಷಣ’ವನ್ನು ನಯವಾಗಿ ನಿರಾಕರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
‘ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಗೃಹ ಸಚಿವ ರಾಜನಾಥ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಅವರು ನನಗೆ ಕರೆ ಮಾಡಿ, ಪದ್ಮ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ವಿಷಯ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಈ ಪುರಸ್ಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಿರುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಸರ್ಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನು ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆದರೆ, ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಅರ್ಹರಾದ ಇನ್ನೂ ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಜನ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ. ನನ್ನ ಬದಲು ಬೇರೊಬ್ಬರನ್ನು ಪುರಸ್ಕರಿಸಬೇಕು’ ಎಂದು ರವಿಶಂಕರ್ ಗುರೂಜಿ ಶನಿವಾರ ಟ್ವೀಟ್ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಬಾಬಾ ರಾಮದೇವ್ ಅವರು ರಾಜನಾಥ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಪತ್ರ ಬರೆದು, ‘ಒಬ್ಬ ಸನ್ಯಾಸಿಯಾಗಿ ನಾನು ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ, ಪುರಸ್ಕಾರಗಳಿಂದ ದೂರ ಇರಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ನನ್ನ ಬದಲಿಗೆ ಬೇರೆ ಅರ್ಹರೊಬ್ಬರನ್ನು ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಿ’ ಎಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಸರ್ಕಾರವು ಪದ್ಮ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅಧಿಕೃತವಾಗಿ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟೇ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಬೇಕಿದೆ.
