Mangaluru, January 20: The cops have arrested two men in relation to the murder of a married woman which took place at Meenkaliya, Panambur on January 12th.
Vishnuvardhan, DCP- crime branch speaking at a press meet in the city on Tuesday January 20th, said that the arrested are Ajju alias Ajju Pradhan (23) and Vrindavan Pradhan (38), the duo hail from Ganjam, Odisha and currently reside at Meenakaliya.
They were caught at Suratkal railway station by evening on Monday January 19th, revealed the Vishnuvardhan.
Kalpana (25) from Madhya Pradesh was brutally murdered when her husband Rajesh and another relative had been to work during night on January 12th. The DCP said that the accused forcibly entered the room and attempted to rape Kalpana, when she opposed it; they attacked her with a sickle and crushed her with stones and pieces of iron pipes.
A case was registered by Panambur. Initially it was said that Kalpana hailed from Uttar Pradesh, later it was found that Madhya Pradesh was her native.
Initially no clue were available about the murderers, during investigation it was apparent to the cops that two persons had gone absconding who stayed in a room in the building occupied by workers from Bihar, Assam, Jharkhand, Kolkata and Odisha.
A crew was formed under the guidance of the police commissioner and the DCPs, and assistance from scientific experts, led by Panambur ASI, who successfully nabbed the accused from Suratkal railway station, revealed the DCP Vishnuvardhan.
He said, the weapons used by the accused were recovered from the crime spot.
DCP Vishnuvardhan has informed that all the construction contractors in the city have been directed to submit complete information of all the migrant labourers employed by them.
