Bangaluru: The manager of a KFC outlet at a Bengaluru mall was caught while he was allegedly clicking pictures of a young woman using his mobile phone without her permission.

S Vivek was promptly dismissed from service. The accused is absconding after the victim lodged a police complaint against him.

In her complaint, the 22-year-old woman said that the incident took place on November 2 at the Royal Meenakshi Mall when she and three friends went to the KFC outlet for lunch. After placing their order, they occupied their seats and one of her friends spotted Vivek randomly clicking her pictures. She then confronted Vivek for clicking pictures without her permission. The woman then seized Vivek’s mobile phone and lodged a complaint with the mall authorities. When there was no response, she claimed that she posted a complaint on the outlet’s website.

Over the next few days, there was correspondence between the Yum! Brands (which operates KFC outlets) and the victim.

Yum! Brands representatives informed Mail Today that action had been initiated against the accused. “Having a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of improper behaviour and harassment, we took cognisance of the complaint and immediately investigated the matter and the services of the charged employee have been terminated by way of punitive measure. Police is investigating the matter and we are extending full cooperation to them. We remain committed to maintaining a workplace free from harassment in all of our restaurants,” the company said in a statement. On November 19, the woman lodged the complaint against the accused.
