Shashi Kiran Shetty is on a roll. The logistics tycooon, who was recently in the news as the buyer of Rajesh Khanna’s iconic Ashirwad bungalow, has picked up a tennis team in the Mahesh Bhupati promoted tennis league without much fanfare.
While Sunil Gavaskar is the known face of the Singapore Slammers, which counts Serena Williams and Andre Agassi among its marguee players, not many knew that Shetty, Kishan Gehlot and Ajay Sethi are the other co-owners.
Those who know Shetty, who is currently busy dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s on the deal for the sea-facing Carter Road property, say he has played a lote of competitive sport from childhood and now wants to turn his attention to the promotion of tennis and other neglected games in the country. Way to go.
