N Reddy, who would bribe the students with chocolates, has been put behind bars, along with the school’s teacher Datta Kumar Patil, who showed the students obscene photos

In a flagrant abuse of responsibility, the principal of a school in Dadar for deaf and mentally challenged students, along with a teacher of the institution, allegedly took sexual advantage of several deaf and mute students. Both academicians have been arrested.

The principal, identified as N Reddy, and teacher Dutta Kumar Patil, have been booked under charges of molestation under Section 354 of the IPC and other relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The Dadar police revealed that they received a complaint against Reddy and Patil on Tuesday, through an advocate appointed by a student’s parents.

An FIR was then registered. According to the child’s parents, their daughter had complained that Reddy had been calling her to his cabin. Once she arrived, he would demand a kiss from her. Reddy also bribed the girl with a chocolate after she did his bidding. Meanwhile, her teacher Patil showed her obscene materials.

After the child shared her experiences with her parents on May 25, the parents met up with an ex-student and roped in an advocate, who filed a complaint. The two accused were arrested yesterday. “There was another child in the principal’s cabin during the incident.

We will be using her as an eyewitness in the case,” said Senior Police Inspector Nishikant Patil of Dadar police station. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused had performed similar acts with several other students, and the police are trying to verify this. “There are four to five more victims. Once they are identified, we will record their statements as well,” Patil added.
