Mumbai : Billawa Jagriti Balaga celebrated Billawa Youth Festival and ‘Miss Billawa’ Contest 2014 with various cultural, dance, drama by all the local committee and Mahila Mandal of BJB on 13th April at Dr. M. Visveshwaraya Sabhagriha, Karnataka Sangha Hall, Matunga here.
The full day colorful events held with Miss Billawa contest. Out of 5 finalists Latika J. Amin with her successful answers to the questions asked by the judges declared as ‘Miss Billawa 2014’ with a cash prize of Rs. 25000/-, Deeksha Kotian declared as 1st runner up and Samiksha S. Kotian as 2nd runner up.
Founder president Sooru C. Karkera inaugurated the events in the morning along with president N.T. Poojary, Mahila Mandal Chairperson Sharada S. Karkera, other office bearers and local committee chairmen of BJB.
Stage function was held in the evening under the president ship of N.T. Poojary president, Billawa Jagriti Balaga. Addressing the packed audience Industrialist Devdas N. Suvarna Chief guest on this occasion said Miss Billawa event was a great event. Today’s technology diverted the youths to different way. So it is essential to involve them into physical activities like sports and other social activities and take active participation in community organization also.
Industrialist Suresh Shetty and Ulthoor Mohandas Shetty, Vice Chairman of Mathrubhoomi Credity Society Ltd., were the guests of Honor requested the Billawa youths to take active participation in Billawa Jagriti Balaga in large number.
Hon. President Suresh S. Poojari, Mahila Mandal Chairperson Sharada S. Karkera also spoke and expressed their best wishes to the entire events.
Youth Wing Chairman Mahendra S. Karkera in his welcome address said youths are our strength who make today’s programme a grand success.
In his presidential speech N T Poojary said the audiences are our backbone. He appealed and promised the youths to join hands in large number so that the Balaga can further grow more and more in the future. He also asked the youths to learn more about the community organisation, come forward join and let us strengthen Billawa Jagriti Balaga even more. He recollected the contributions of Mahila Mandal for Balaga’s activities and even today’s functions. We will also call a meeting of like minded business and corporate people of our community and plan to establish Billawa Chamber of Commerce, he said.
Hon. General Secretary Keshav K. Kotian and Youth Wing Secretary J.M. Kotian compared the programme.
