Threatening to expose her relationship with a boy in the neighbourhood, two men had been repeatedly raping a 13-year-old girl inside a public toilet in Sewri since December 2013, RAK Marg police have revealed.
The main accused, identified as Sunil Singh, worked as a cleaner in the toilet, while the other accused Bhuller Khan is his friend, and works in a grocery shop.
Singh had blackmailed the teenager, saying he would tell her parents about her relationship with a boy. Senior Inspector Vilas Wankhede from RAK Marg police station said, “Singh had been tracking the girl’s movements.
He has been working at the toilet for two years, and the survivor would often use it. He started blackmailing her. Then one morning, he forced himself on her.” When Khan learnt about it, he also started raping her.
A woman living in the locality got wind of the crime, and started following the girl. Wankhede said, “The woman discovered what was happening. She spoke to the survivor and informed her parents. They reported the matter to the police on Monday evening and a case was registered.”
Singh stays in the same area as the survivor, while Khan is a resident of Cotton Green. The two men have been booked under sections 376 (rape), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC.
