Mumbai- Anand- ParveenThane : The Singh family has a reason to celebrate as the patriarch of the family and his daughter have managed to pass their LLB exams together. Anand Gurminder Singh ( 50) and his daughter Parveen Anand ( 22), residents of Shree Nagar, Thane ( West) who appeared for their Bachelor of Law exams in April this year, were thrilled to find their results online on June 21 at 11.30 pm.

Singh is an insurance consultant who has already passed his BGL ( Bachelor of General Law) in 1986. He also studied for the LLB exams. However, when the time came for him to appear for the exams, his family’s financial troubles held him back. “ After we got married, he decided that when either of our children decide to pursue law, he would study the course and appear for the exams too,” said Dolly, Singh’s wife.

Singh had studied for the exam in 1986, which was 27 years ago. Since then, neither did he study for the exams, nor did he think of doing so until his daughter decided to pursue law. “ I had always wished to study for this exam,” said Singh, “ But as I had not appeared for the exam at all, this is my first attempt at it and I have managed to succeed in the first try itself.” His daughter Parveen attended Mithibai College in Vile Parle, where she studied for her LLB. “ When I decided to study law, I told dad to give it a go and take the exams with me. He always wanted to do law and his wish has finally come true,” she said.

When asked about their preparations for the course, Parveen said, “ Dad and I had our own set of books to study and studied together, helping each other whenever we could.” As for their further plans, Singh plans on practising law as a profession and Parveen is preparing to give her CS ( Company Secretary) exams this December.(MM)
