Mumbai: A woman locked herself in her car late on Monday night during a drink driving check in Mumbai’s upscale suburbs of Bandra, forcing policemen to smash a window to open the car.

According to reports, the woman was stopped by policemen who suspected that she was drunk and when her test showed more alcohol than permissible level, she allegedly rushed into her car and locked herself.

She sat inside the car for two hours, reportedly, playing loud music and smoking. When she refused to come out, the policemen finally smashed a window of the car.

The police also claimed that she abused officers and threatened them. After being pulled out, she tried to escape. She was booked and fined before being allowed to go.

Last week, two people were killed after a 35-year-old lawyer Janhavi Gadkar, vice-president (legal) at Reliance, rammed a taxi with her Audi Q3 in drunken state. Gadkar had been driving recklessly on the freeway at a very high speed.
