Mumbai : The Amboli police on Wednesday arrested music composer Ismail Darbar in connection with the assault case filed against him by assistant director Prashmit Chaudhari.

On Tuesday, police arrested Ismail’s son Zaid, along with two other accused — Mohsin Khan and Nishant Singh — after Chaudhari alleged that they had assaulted him over an argument regarding unpaid dues. Chaudhari had named the father-son duo, as well as Khan and Singh, in his complaint filed with Amboli police. According to police officials, Ismail was picked up from Oshiwara on Wednesday and brought to the police station for inquiries, after which he was placed under arrest.

“Ismail was arrested and subsequently granted bail. We are conducting further inquiries against him and the other three accused,” said senior police inspector Ramesh Khadtare of Amboli police station. Chaudhari alleged that he had approached Ismail earlier this month and asked for the dues, which led to an argument. He further said that on Monday night, Zaid, along with Khan and Singh, called him to meet them outside the building where he stays and assaulted him.

“There are no CCTV cameras in the building where the incident took place. We are conducting investigations to find other corroborative evidence against the accused before we file a chargesheet,” Khadtare added.
