Complainant approaches police seeking help to file an objection

The police have sought legal opinion from the Department of Prosecution on the bail granted to Karthik Gowda, son of Railway Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, to challenge it before the High Court.

Karthik, who was charged with raping and cheating an actor, did not appear before the R.T. Nagar police even on Tuesday.

The complainant, meanwhile, approached the police on Tuesday and submitted a petition seeking help to file an objection to Karthik’s anticipatory bail. A senior police officer said Karthik was supposed to appear before the investigating officer (IO) to regularise his bail. “The police are waiting for him and we will continue with the investigation,” said Alok Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order). There is no hard and fast rule that the accused has to appear before the IO immediately after bail. But conditions state that he should report to the R.T. Nagar Police Station every fortnight, an officer said.
