There will be a total of 146 cultural events spread over 10 days as part of the Dasara festivities which commence here from September 25.

Amba Vilas Palace, the centre of attraction during the cultural extravaganza, will host around 29 programmes. Artistes of national and international repute will perform on a specially-designed dais in the foreground of the illuminated palace.

Jaganmohan Palace auditorium, Kalamandira, Ganabharati and Town Hall will host 27 programmes each.

Chikkagadiyara premises, in front of the century-old Devaraja Market, will host nine programmes, according to the Dasara cultural sub-committee.

The palace will host eight folk programmes; five programmes by artistes from other States; eight programmes each from artistes of national and international repute. The programmes at the palace will begin at 5.30 p.m. on all days.

The Dasara Festival Committee has, so far, received 450 applications from artistes wishing to perform in Dasara cultural events. The last date to submit applications is September 10.

Meanwhile, a decision had been taken not to consider artistes who performed at the Dasara festivities in the last three years. In the events, 40 per cent of artistes will be local; 30 per cent from other districts; 20 per cent State-level artistes and 10 per cent will be of national and international repute. All kinds of art forms will get an opportunity in the programmes, a note from the sub-committee said here.
