647 students awarded degrees at NLSIU convocation

As many as 647 students were awarded degrees at the 22nd annual convocation of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) here on Sunday.

Chief Justice of India Rajendra Mal Lodha, who is Chancellor of NLSUI, conferred the degrees on the students in the presence of Union Minister for Law and Justice, Communications and IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Law Minister T.B. Jayachandra and Higher Education Minister R.V. Deshpande.

Sakshi of Bangalore bagged 10 gold medals for her all-round performance in LLB (Honours) course. She secured first rank in the university. Juhi Gupta bagged six medals, while Vinodini Srinivasan bagged five medals. Abhinav Sekhri received four medals in LLB (Honours).

Basavan Gouda Patil was awarded the Best Law Student 2014 by Society of Indian Law Firms, in association with Menon Institute of Legal Advocacy Training.

Rukma George bagged three medals in the LLM course, and Kiran B.S., student of Seshadripuram Law College, Bangalore, received a prize for the best essay in Constitution Law.

NLSIU Vice-Chancellor R. Venkata Rao welcomed dignitaries and read out the names of the medal winners.

Sitting and retired judges of the Supreme Court and High Court of Karnataka were present.
