Claimed to have murdered the youth, who he suspected of eloping with his daughter
On Thursday morning, policemen at K.R. Puram police station, who have dealt with several crimes, were shocked when a man dumped a gunny bag with a body at their doorstep. The body was that of his daughter’s alleged boyfriend, who he claimed to have murdered.
Investigations revealed that Riyaz Khan (45) suspected the victim Sadiq Khan (26) of being in a relationship with his 14-year-old daughter.
The families of Riyaz and Sadiq are said to have been neighbours in Siddapura before the former shifted to K.R. Puram. Police said the family shifted because Riyaz suspected that something was brewing between the two.
On July 30, the girl, who is studying in class 7 in a private school, had reportedly eloped with Sadiq. Riyaz filed a complaint with the K.R. Puram police. On Wednesday, Riyaz went to Siddapura in the hope of finding his daughter. He met Sadiq’s friend Irfan, who arranged a meeting with Sadiq on Thursday. However, even before the meeting, Riyaz got into a scuffle with Irfan and allegedly assaulted him.
While Irfan went to report the incident to the Siddapura police, Riyaz went to his sister’s house where the meeting with Sadiq had been fixed. However, the meeting with Sadiq did not go well.
Infuriated by the events, Riyaz allegedly attacked Sadiq with a sickle and slit his throat.
