The State government on Monday said the Centre had not sought details about the CD which has evidence of Janata Dal (S) leader and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy allegedly demanding money from an MLC aspirant.

To a question in the Legislative Assembly if the Centre had sought a report from the State, Mr. Siddaramaiah said, “I have no information about the Union government seeking a report on the issue. Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T.B. Jayachandra too said that the government would send a report if the Centre made a request.

However, Minister for Revenue V. Srinivas Prasad favoured a probe into the CD issue.

He said the JD (S) leader should not paint all political parties with the same brush, and the Congress had not indulged in corruption while nominating candidates to the Upper House.

A row broke out after the former Chief Minister was heard in an audio CD allegedly seeking money in exchange for JD (S) support to contest in the elections to the Legislative Council.

Mr. Kumaraswamy said he was open to any kind of inquiry and also ready for discussion in the Assembly session. “I have already said that no financial transaction has taken place; any kind of inquiry can be held,” he told reporters here.
