Bangalore: The Karnataka Teachers’ Eligibility Test (KARTET) was conducted as scheduled on Sunday amid reports about question paper leak. But many candidates appearing for the test were unaware.
The exam was held in two parts– Paper 1 in the morning session – for eligibility to teach for classes 1 to 5 and Paper 2 in the afternoon session was meant to test the eligibility to teach for classes 5 to 8.
The minimum marks required to qualify is 90 (60 per cent) out the total of 150 marks.
At the Kamla Bai High School, Queens’s Road, an exam centre in Bangalore, a total of 263 candidates out of the 300 registered, appeared for the test. Shivaleela, a candidate who gave the test for Paper 2 at the centre said, “I have not heard anything about the question paper leak. My paper went well. I am expecting a score of around 127 out of the total 150,” she said.
Another candidate Sandeep Tukade was also ignorant about any paper leak. He also appeared for Paper 2.
“I did not hear any of that sort and I hope it is just a rumor. I did very well and am expecting 130 marks,” said Sandeep.
CSIR-NET clashes with TET
While Paper 2 of TET was held between 2 pm and 4.30 pm, the examination of the CSIR (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research)-UGC (University Grants Commission) NET (National Eligibility Test) that also took place in Sunday was held between 2 pm and 5pm.
