All vehicles, including ambulances, not allowed to pass by

Traffic was disrupted over vast stretches of Old Airport Road, Sarjapur Road and in and around Koramangala as hundreds of Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) personnel and family members blocked Hosur Road here on Wednesday.

There was complete lawlessness and chaos and traffic was disrupted between Old Airport Road near Sony World Junction and St. John’s Hospital. Traffic was also disrupted between Kripanidhi College Junction and Sarjapur Road.

The protesters were preventing commuters from travelling on these routes. The police officials were on their toes controlling the crowd. With vehicular movement coming to a halt on these stretches, people were seen getting off public buses and walking to reach their destinations.

All vehicles, including ambulances, were not being allowed on the two stretches and the police had a tough time convincing the protesters of the need to allow ambulances pass by.

Anand V., a commuter, said that he was stuck near Kripanidhi College for about one-and-a-half hours.

“A commute that normally takes me 45 minutes from Sarjapur Road and Girinagar took three hours today. We were shocked to see that policemen were on the streets and also disappointed that the other policemen could not handle the issue,” Mr. Anand said.
