No power, water supply for violations after cut-off date for regularisation
BANGALORE: The State government will deal firmly with illegal constructions that come up after the cut-off date for the scheme to regularise building by-laws and land use violations in urban areas, Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference in Bangalore, Sorake said the cut-off date for the one-time regularisation scheme, popularly known as Akrama-Sakrama, is October 19, 2013. Illegal constructions that came up after the cut-off date will not be tolerated, he said.
“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has sought strict rules to ensure that there are no fresh illegal constructions. We will come out with a detailed action plan to curb fresh illegal constructions. To start with, no power or water connections would be provided to such dwellings,” Sorake said.
A meeting of top officials of the urban development department and urban local bodies would be convened to work out the modalities.
Officials who give completion certificate to buildings with violations would be held responsible and action would be taken against them.
He said Karnataka Town and Country Planning (Regulation of Unauthorised Development and Constructions) Rules 2013 required to implement the regularisation scheme, would be placed before the Karnataka High Court as per its directions.
To a query on the status of buildings that exceed violations beyond the stipulated limit (25 per cent for residential and 50 per cent for non-residential), Sorake said the government will await the High Court directions before taking a decision on the matter.
He pointed out that Andhra Pradesh allowed for regularisation of 100 per cent violation and the same would be submitted before the court.
He said three state-of-the art abattoirs will come up at Mysore, Hospet and Chitradurga at a cost of Rs 80 crore.
