Mysore: Muhurtham held atop Chamundi Hills in Mysore on auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya.
On the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya and Basava Jayanti, the first shot for the Rajnikanth starrer movie ‘Lingaa’ was taken at Chamundi temple atop Chamundi Hills amidst tight security here on Friday morning.
Rajnikant arrived at the temple around 4.30 am, as per the schedule and after offering puja to the Godess Chamundeshwari with the entire film crew, including movie director K S Ravikumar, producer Rockline Venkatesh and cinematographer Rathnavelu. However, leading ladies of the movie Anushka Shetty and Sonakshi Sinha were not present.
Around 5 am, Housing Minister Ambarish and his wife Sumalatha joined the muhurtham. The puja for the film was held at the mantapa opposite the temple. Though Ambarish was supposed to clap for the movie, producer Muniratna performed the act.
Later, the opening scene of the movie was shot inside the temple. Soon after, Ranjnikanth and Ambarish left the spot in a car for the hotel.
After a gap of four years
Speaking on the occasion, Ambarish said he was happy about his friend shooting a movie in his native place Mandya and Mysore for the first time. “After a gap of four long years, he (Rajnikanth) is acting in a movie and I am happy about it. He has fans not only in India but also across the globe,” he said.
Rockline Venkatesh added that the movie was named after Rajnikanth’s grandson.
The story too demanded the same title, he added. The film will be shot in Hotel Lalith Mahal, KRS, Srirangapatna and other historical places in and around Mysore.
Though he did not disclose the cost and theme of the movie, Venkatesh added that the movie will have a ‘message’, like all Rajni movies.
The Tamil movie will be dubbed in Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam, so that it reaches a large number of people, he said, adding that the film would also be shot in foreign locations.
A R Rahman is the music director, while Sabu Cyril will shoulder the responsibility of art direction.
