The All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO) staged a protest here on Wednesday urging the State government to reconsider its decision to conduct the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for appointing school teachers.
‘Uncertainty’

Arguing that the decision has resulted in uncertainty among aspirants for teachers’ posts, the protesters urged the government to withhold the test.

They said candidates who have cleared B.Ed. and D.Ed. courses have been waiting for teaching jobs in government schools for many years.

“TET should not be conducted unless apprehensions over the move are convincingly dealt with,” a release from the AIDYO said. Though the test was being conducted based on directions issued in 2010 from the National Council for Teacher Education, the “unexpected” decision by the government to conduct the test had led to confusion among the aspirants, the release stated.
