Lokayukta cops raid 19 premises of 7 govt officials

Bangalore: Lokayukta police on Friday carried out simultaneous raids on 19 premises belonging to seven government officials in the State.

In the raids conducted in Bagalkot, Chikkaballapur, Davangere, Haveri, Kolar, Koppal and Shimoga districts, illegal assets of over Rs 6 crore were unearthed.

Those raided were Mahantappa Giddappa Kannur, AEE in PWD, Lingsugur in Raichur, Sriramaiah, Group D employee (attender), Deputy Commissioner Office, Chikkaballapur, T Somla Naik, sub-inspector, Basavanagar police station, Davangere, Basavaraj Shivappa Koppad, Deputy Tahasildar, Byadagi, Haveri, Muniraju, office superintendent, SNR Government Hospital, Kolar, Basanagouda Goudar, Assistant Statistical Officer, Zilla Panchayat, Koppal and R Nagaraj, Town Planner in Shimoga Urban Development Authority (SUDA), Shimoga.

At the premises of Mahantappa, immovable assets, which included agricultural lands, houses, buildings and residential plots worth Rs 1.29 crore and movable assets worth 34.4 lakh comprising vehicles, gold ornaments and house hold articles, were unearthed.

His total disproportionate assets (DA) were estimated at 231.03 per cent.
With T Somla Naik, sub-inspector, was found with immovable assets such as sites and houses worth Rs 35.81 lakh and movable assets such as cars, jewelleries and cash worth Rs 13.55 lakh. The DA of sub-inspector is estimated up to 181.51 per cent.

The raid on Deputy Tahasildar in Revenue department, Basavaraj Shivappa Koppad, yielded Rs 24.18 lakh immovable assets like house, lands and residential plots.

The movable assets worth Rs 55 lakh comprised seven bikes, three cars, two tractors, a tipper, gold ornaments and Rs 57, 319 in cash. The DA is around 118 per cent. Raid on Muniraju from health department saw immovable assets like house, buildings and residential plots all worth Rs 62 lakh.

It was also found that he owned residential plot in Anjanapura Layout in Bangalore. His movable property worth Rs 14 lakh included Rs 3 lakh cash in hand. The DA calculated is 320 per cent.

Immovable assets worth Rs 48.95 lakh like lands, houses and sites were found owned by Basanagouda Goudar, assistant statistical officer, Zilla Panchayat in Koppal.

Movable properties like MRF Tyre showroom, two JCBs, two tractors, two-wheeler, gold and silver ornaments worth up to Rs 60 lakh, were also unearthed. Around 205 per cent DA is calculated.

The raid on R Nagaraj, town planner in SUDA, Shimoga yielded immovable property worth Rs 37 lakh and movable property worth Rs 27 lakh. His DA per cent is estimated to be 258.74 per cent.

A Lokayukta official said bank lockers and accounts of accused are still being scrutinised. Criminal cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act were booked against them.

Crorepati attender

Lokayukta officials were in for a surprise when they raided Sriramaiah, an attender at Chikkaballapur DC office and unearthed immovable assets worth Rs 1.68 crore which include buildings, residential plots and lands.

His movable assets such as vehicles, gold and silver ornaments and furniture were valued at Rs 11.3 lakh. The disproportionate assets were estimated to be 436 per cent.
