Bangalore: Former legislator H S Shankaralinge Gowda, 67, passed away in Bangalore after a brief illness.
He is survived by wife, two sons and two daughters. Gowda was a four-term MLA and represented the Chamaraja Assembly segment in Mysore district.
Ahead of the 2013 Assembly polls, he quit the BJP to join the JD(S). Gowda was also the mayor of Mysore in 1988.
During the BJP regime in the State, Gowda had repeatedly expressed his unhappiness that seniors like him were being sidelined and not given Cabinet berths.
