Bangalore City has highest missing young girls: KJ George

BELGAUM: Bangalore has recorded highest with registering 2,743 cases of missing of young girls in 2013. Similarly, 1,793 boys are reported missing.

As many as 24,663 cases of missing young girls have been reported in the state from 2010 to November 2013. Similarly 13,795 cases of missing boys registered during the same period.

Replying to Bhanuprakash (BJP), home minister KJ George told legislative council police have cracked 21,993 cases of missing girls and 11,214 cases of missing boys so far. The minister said most of the detected cases pinpoint towards love as the reason for both boys and girls for missing.

Bhanuprakash demanded that the police provide an opportunity to parents of missing girls to convince their daughters, who have eloped after falling in love with boys from other caste and religions. George said an opportunity for counseling for girls would be given at police stations.

Medical college-hospital for police

To another question, The home minister said the government was committed to protect welfare of the police personnel belonging constable and assistant sub-inspectors level (ASIs). “The government was planning to open police canteen on the lines of defence, which would benefit working and retired police personnel in getting food grains and other essential commodities from the canteen,” he said.

George also said that a 600-bed hospital and medical college would be opened for police staff. “The government will also increase allowance of constables and ASIs,” he said.
