Bangalore, Nov 20, 2013, DHNS: Chief Whip of the JD(S) in the Legislative Assembly Madhu Bangarappa on Wednesday said his party would take on the failures of the State government in the Belgaum session with facts and figures.
“The JD(S) had given six months time for the State government to settle down, but its performance has been disappointing. The JD(S) will get aggressive now onwards,” Madhu Bangarappa said in an interaction with the media here.
The party would work out its statergies at a meeting in Bangalore on Thursday to take on the government. The JD(S) would raise all issues concerning the people during the Belgaum session, he said and added that the mismatch between the various announcements made by the government and what has actually been implemented would be exposed.
Replying to queries, he said programmes such as Shaadi Bhagya of the state government could divide the society. The Sorab MLA said he personally felt there was no need for a separate anti-superstition legislation and, tightening the present rules and regulations was sufficient.
On his role as president of the youth wing of the JD(S), Madhu said he was in consultation with the party leaders on organising a mammoth conference for the youth, “Yuva Chethana” at Davangere. He said both the Congress and the BJP indulged in political slugfest and did not have anything to offer for the youth. The country was not tapping its youth force and a political push was required in this direction, he said.
LS polls
He said JD(S) top leaders were keen that a family member of former chief minister the late S Bangarappa should contest the ensuing Lok Sabha polls from the Shimoga constituency. He said his family will make an announcement in this regard soon. Madhu said JD(S) leaders H D Deve Gowda and H D Kumaraswamy felt that it would be a fitting tribute to Bangarappa if one of his family members is given the party ticket to contest from Shimoga.
“We need a person who can do good things to the Shimoga constituency as its elected representative. We are working in that direction,” Madhu said.
