Bangalore: The brutal killing of a woman by setting her afire over a dispute on a clothesline in Doddabele has taken a new turn with the arrest of two persons.

Investigation has revealed that the woman, Ravikala, was murdered over an alleged affair.

Soladevanahalli police have arrested Manjunath and Murali in connection with the crime.

The other two suspects Munithayamma Mundanappa and her daughter Rupa are still at large. All the four are accused of killing Ravikala (28) by setting her on fire. The arrested have admitted that the murder was over an affair between Manjunath and Ravikala, Sandeep Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) said.

According to police, Manjunath and Ravikala were having an affair over the last few months. They were caught red-handed by Munithayamma when they were together.

She had warned both of them to stay away from each other, but in vain.

When a quarrel broke out with Ravikala over the clothesline, Munithyamma provoked her children to attack the former.

All the four doused Ravikala with kerosene and burnt her alive, police said.

Bodies recovered

The bodies of two teenage boys, who drowned in a pond at the Palace Grounds here on Sunday afternoon, were recovered on Tuesday morning.

Ramesh, 17, and Manirathnam, 14, had drowned while having a swim in the pond. Five of their friends, however, managed to escape.

The High Grounds police and the fire personnel could not trace the bodies despite a daylong search operation. The search resumed on Tuesday morning when the bloated bodies were found floating in the pond.

The bodies were handed over to the families after a post-mortem.
