Woman ends life: Cops take husband into custody

MahalakshmiMysore, Aug 18, 2013: A 23-year-old homemaker committed suicide by hanging self, at her house in Sharadadevi Nagar in Saraswatipuram police limits on Saturday.

The deceased is identified as Mahalakshmi alias Soni, wife of Gowtham, a professional photographer.

The couple was married for one-and-a-half years.

In his complaint to the police, Hemanth, brother of Soni, has alleged that he received a call from Gowtham around 8.30 pm stating that Soni was unwell and has been admitted to a hospital.

However, when he rushed to the hospital, Soni was already dead.

Hemanth has accused Gowtham, his mother Kushala Kumari and his sister Swapna, of doing her to death.

Acting on the complaint, the police on Sunday took Gowtham into their custody.

BEML worker killed

A casual labour at Bharath Earth Movers Limited (BEML), Hootagalli in the city, was killed when he was run over by a train near Kadakola in Nanjangud on Sunday.

P Raju, the casual labour at loading and unloading section of BEML and a resident of Kergalli on the outskirts of Mysore, is the deceased.

Railway police said, Raju may have come under the train around 10.30 am.

Initially, the body remained unidentified, but for the metal badge bearing a number (employee number) of BEML found on the person. When enquired at the factory, the identity was traced as that of Raju.

The family members said, Raju had gone to his relative’s place in Nanjangud on August 15. He was returning home on Sunday, when the tragedy struck.

A case has been registered.
