Another ATM theft foiled

atm10Bangalore, August 7, 2013; A security guard at the Union Bank of India on Begur Main Road foiled an attempt of a man to break open the automated teller machine (ATM) in the small hours of Wednesday. This is the third such incident in the City in the last one week.

Basavaraj, the security guard, was on night shift on Tuesday. At about 2:45 am, he went out to relieve himself. By the time he returned, he saw a man inside the counter trying to break open the ATM. When Basavaraj raised an alarm, the man rushed out and fled. Though Basavaraj gave him a chase, the miscreant disappeared in the dark.

Basavaraj, soon alerted the police and later lodged a complaint with the Electronic City police.
In his complaint, he has stated that the miscreant had covered his face with a cloth and was trying to break open the machine with an iron rod.

Pedestrian mowed down

A pedestrian was mowed down by a speeding autorickshaw on Queen’s Road on Tuesday night.

The deceased, Raghavendra, 65, was a resident of Shivajinagar and was running a bakery on Thimmaiah Road.

On Tuesday night, as he was returning home, the auto ran over him near the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee office. Though he was immediately rushed to a private hospital, he was declared brought dead.
