yadiyurappa-con-kjpA delegation comprising several Bharatiya Janata Party MPs and some former Ministers will visit Delhi on Monday to appeal to the party’s central leadership to get the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa back into the party fold.

According to sources, the delegation would include senior MP D.B. Chandre Gowda and Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council D.V. Sadananda Gowda.

Mr. Chandre Gowda confirmed that he would visit Delhi. “I am going there for an official meeting. But I will also hold discussion with the party’s central leaders on the Yeddyurappa issue if I get an opportunity,” he said. He, however, did not wish to confirm who else would accompany him.

Sources said the delegation wants to meet leaders such as party national president Rajnath Singh and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who was recently appointed chairman of the Lok Sabha Election Campaign Committee.

These MPs are of the view that getting Mr. Yeddyurappa back would help the party put up an impressive performance in the Lok Sabha elections, it is learnt.

The former Ministers Umesh Katti, Murugesh Nirani, Basavaraj Bommai and D.N. Jeevaraj will be part of the delegation.

Interestingly, BJP State unit had requested the central leadership to call prominent leaders from the State to Delhi this week to hold discussion on the issue. The State unit had felt that this would help clear confusion on the issue as a section of the leaders are strongly demanding Mr. Yeddyurappa’s re-inclusion while another group has reservations on taking him back.

However, even before such a meeting is held, these pro-Yeddyurappa leaders have decided to air their views to the Central leadership.

Mr. Yeddyurappa had left the BJP ahead of the Assembly elections and joined the Karnataka Janata Paksha as its State president.
