BANGALORE: Police commissioner Raghavendra H Auradkar on Monday announced that a three-layered security will be provided for all centres where the counting of votes polled in Sunday’s elections will be taken up on Wednesday.

The city police, KSRP and the central paramilitary forces will make up these layers.

Five counting centres have been set up in the city at Smt VHD Home Science College, Seshadri Road (for Bangalore Urban constituencies), Mount Carmel Pre-University College (for BBMP Central), Maharani’s Arts College (for BBMP North), SSMRV Pre-University College (for BBMP South) and Government Ram Narayan Chellaram College of Commerce and Management (for Bangalore Rural).

They were on Sunday sanitized with anti-sabotages. City Armed Reserve personnel are guarding the EVMs put up in strong rooms and centres are being videographed.

Elaborating on the security arrangements, a senior police officer said that while the building and building compound will be guarded by central forces personnel the third layer guarding the perimeter of the counting centres will comprise local police.
