Look out notice issued after arrest warrant
City Police Commissioner M.N. Reddi on Thursday told The Hindu that Union Railway Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda’s son Karthik Gowda “is absconding”. He added that a special police team has been formed to find him and a look out notice has been issued to all airports, railway stations and bus terminals across the State.
The police obtained an arrest warrant against Karthik Gowda from the 8 Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Court on Thursday. “Armed with the arrest warrant, a special team has been formed to nab him,” Mr. Reddi said
Karthik was accused of rape and cheating by a Kannada film actor who claimed that she is married to him.
The city police had issued two notices to Karthik Gowda to appear before the police as part of the investigation. Since he did not heed both notices, the city police sought an arrest warrant on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the City Civil Court, which heard the anticipatory bail plea of Karthik Gowda on Thursday, adjourned the case to Friday.
Noted advocate B.V. Acharya argued on behalf of Karthik Gowda for more than three hours at the hearing. While his arguments concluded on Thursday, the public prosecutor will be making his case on Friday.
The city police have filed their objections against granting of anticipatory bail to the Railway Minister’s son.
They are awaiting a report on the medical examination of the victim, who had also recorded her statement before a court.
