Requisition handed over to declare holiday on September 8th.

Mangalore, September 2: The Christian community residing at the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts celebrate the feast of Virgin Mary(Korala Habba) as a communal feast which falls on 8th of September. Hence to declare leave on this day to both the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts; a requisition letter containing the signatures of the people belonging to the Christian community has been handed over to the chief minister of the state Mr Siddaramaiah by the Mangalore Bishop Ray. Rev.Dr. Aerosian Paul  D’Souza.

It was brought to the notice of the Chief Minister that, this feast is celebrated even in other countries too and on this eve, 8days special mass along with other prior preparation will be done.

The chief minister Mr Siddaramaiah on possessing this requisition has assured that he would check out regarding this matter and would pass order subsequently. During this occasion, Minister such as U.T.Khadar, Vinay Kumar Sorake, K.Abhay Chandra Jain, MLA’s Ivon D’Souza, J.R.Lobo and Ex-Minister B.A.Mohideen and others were present.
