Person faces charges of 11 cases, fraud amounts to crores

Mangalore, July 31: Suratkal police on Wednesday July 30 arrested a person involved in defrauding many including politicians and entrepreneurs from various parts of the country to the tune of several crores of rupees.

Sheikh Mansoor (38), residing in Janata Colony at Kana Katla near Suratkal is the arrested accused. On producing him in the court, Mansoor was remanded to judicial custody till August 8.

The court had issued arrest warrant against the accused relating to 11 cases of fraud registered in Suratkal police station. Reportedly, Mansoor had been taken into custody once earlier, but he had succeeded in giving the policemen a slip.

In the past, Mansoor is said to have told the policemen that the people of Dakshina Kannada district were easiest among the people of south India to cheat. He told the interrogators that the people on their own handed over cash, demand drafts, cheques etc to him, and that he had never taken money forcefully or stolen it.

It is learnt that Mansoor has standing cases in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Pondicherry, Gujarat, Kolkota and other states relating to defrauding well-known personalities.
