Mangalore, Jul 31: A teenage girl was killed on the spot at Urwa Store junction on July 30 after a cement mixer truck ran over her.
The deceased is identified as Andrea Patrao (17), a first year BCom student at St Aloysius College. She is the daughter of Alwyn Patrao, vice-president of Mangalore Catholic Cooperative (MCC) Bank, who hails from Kirem.
According to reports the girl, with a friend was on the pillion, when the rider applied brakes Andrea lost balance and fell on to the road. A cement mixer truck that was behind them ran over her. The rider was unhurt and rushed Andrea to the hospital, but declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Urwa police have registered a case and procedures are under way.
