Mangalore/Kaup,April 30: It has been reported that due to the impact of head on collision between Maruti Alto and Innova car ,near Mulur on NH 66 in the wee hours on April 29, Sunday night resulting the death of one youth on the spot.
It was told that this accident was occurred when deceased Shamith Shetty, son of Jayarama Shetty and Kushala Shetty, resident of Mala in Karkala Taluk was returning to Kaup along with his relatives after attending some religious functions at Inna, near Padubidri.
Alto car was heading towards Kaup from Inna and Innova car, which was coming from opposite direction from Brahmavara to Mulky at around 1.00 am, driver of the Innova car lost the control of the vehicle and rammed on to the Alto car, resulting the accident, it was reported.
Harish Shetty aged 32, his wife Prathibha Shetty, aged 28.their child Prapthi aged 1, their sister’s children peethesh, aged 15, Nidhi aged 5 and driver of the Innova car Antony have been injured and admitted to Udipi private hospital.
Kaup Legislator Lalaji Mendon, who was returning from election campaign on this route, shown his exemplary courtesy on humanitarian ground by shifting all the injured, who were yelling for help to hospital in his own car and extended all the possible medical help to the injured.
It was alleged that in spite of several telephone calls made to Kaup police station, nobody from the police dept either responded the call or rushed to the place of accident.
However sources said that police denied the allegation by clarifying the fact that phone line was got disrupted earlier to this incident due to heavy thundering and lightening.
Sources said that deceased Shamith shetty was running the poultry farm business at Mala and survived by his father, mother,brother and sister.
Kaup police registered the case and investigation is on.
