Mangalore, Apr 29: A person, who was admitted in a hospital for treatment after vandalizing the tollgate at Brahmarakootlu, has escaped from the hospital giving a clean slip to the police waiting for his discharge.
The accused identified as Muhammed Shamir alias Shammi, who had sustained injuries during the attack on tollgate was admitted to hospital for treatment, has escaped from the hospital on late night on Sunday April 27.
Taking serious view of this development, Dakshina Kannada district SP Dr Sharanappa, suspended Bantwal police circle inspector Rajshekar Maistry, and police constable Sheshappa, who had been deployed at the hospital at the time.
He also directed the home guards superintendent to take action against the home guards who had been on duty at the time.
He said that even after deploying the police personnel to keep an eye on the accused, he escaped from the hospital shows the failure of police department.
