MANGALORE: Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency, which recorded 74.33% in the last Lok Sabha polls, is likely to surpass the percentage by a few points this time. The polling percentage at 5pm was at a healthy 68%, despite the temperatures at 35 degrees celsius, which was two degrees celsius above the normal maximum temperature recorded for the month of April.

The polling, which was brisk in the morning hours, saw good turnout and by 11am it had touched 27%. There was no huge rush at the polling booths after 10am, which meant that voters had to wait a maximum of five minutes to exercise their franchise in booths across the city.
