Mangalore, April 7: The DRI officials arrests two passengers and seize 3.200 Kilo Grams of Gold valued at Rs.93,63,389 at Mangalore International Airport on April 6, Sunday.
The arrested passenger are identified as Abdul Nisar and his wife Fousia, a resident of Kumbala, Kerala, who had carried 3.2 Kilo Grams gold valued at Rs.93,63,389 brought in the form of Gold wires and pieces of gold biscuits hidden in a Popcorn machine, a Car stereo and a Digital steamer. The passengers had arrived by Air India Express Flight IX814 from Dubai 07-30 am. The officials have arrested the passengers and remanded to judicial custody. A five year old Child also was also retained along with the passengers.
It is learned that in the similar way, earlier, passengers have tried to smuggle Gold but were caught by the DRI officials in Mangalore International Airport.
