Custom officers arrest two passengers, seize gold at Mangalore Airport

Mangalore, Feb 15: Two more passenger were arrested in different cases at Mangalore International Airport by the custom officer and seized gold weighing 932.500 grams on February 14, Friday.

The arrested Shereef Abdulkareem, a resident of Thekkil, Kasaragod, arrived by Air India Express fight IX384 from Dubai carried gold weighing 466 grams valued at Rs 14,09,650 concealed in the base of a brown coloured rexine trolley bag.

In the second case, custom officers arrested a passenger Riyas Kuchanath Purayil, a resident of Haripuram, Kasaragod arrived by Air India Express flight IX384 from Dubai, carrying gold weighing 466.500 grams valued at Rs 14,11,162, concealed in the base of a black coloured rexine trolley bag.

The total gold seized in both the cases is worth Rs 28,20,812.

The arrest operations were conducted under the supervision of Pravin Vinod, assistant commissioner of customs, Mangalore International Airport, under the guidance of commissioner D Purushotham.
