KJNRS activists organizes Rail Roko opposing Nethravathi River Diversion project

Mangalore, Jan 28: Karavali Jeevanadhi Nethravathi Rakshana Samithi activists organized a rail roko in front of Bangalore- Karwar Train at Mangalore Junction Railway station on Jan 28, Tuesday against the proposed Nethravathi River Diversion project.

Addressing the protestors, Former MLA and committee leader Vijay Kumar Shetty said that the central and state government is trying to divert the mind of people of coastal region by not providing the details of proposed project and its affects. The people will never agree for the river diversion project and make the region suffer for its own resources.

The rail rook has been staged to draw the attention of Central Government, state government, Chief Minister and all the cabinet ministers to show the opposition from the people of the region and urge them to withdraw the project. If the government fails to withdraw the proposed project, then the activists will hold violent protest in coming days.

Committee leaders P V Mohan, MG Hegde, Denis D’Silva, T K Sudhir, corporator Prakash, Ramanand Poojary, Suresh Shetty, Hemanth Garodi, Hussain Katipalla, Abdul Sattar, Jayakar Samarth and others were present.
