Mangalore, Jan 8: The villagers under the aegis the Action Committee carried out a huge rally from Gurupur Kaikamba to Kandavara Village Office on January 7,Tuesday against the proposed Mangalore-Hassan-Mysore-Soloor gas pipeline project of the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd.
Addressing the protestors, Ibrahim, leader of the Action Committee, said that though the diesel pipeline has passed through the same area around 12 years back, the affected farmers were given insufficient compensation. But now the villagers not allow any such projects to come up and will continue our protest, he said.
Farmer leader Rajesh Nayak Badagulipadi, Communist leader BM Bhat and others were present.
Later, the protestors submitted a memorandum to Deputy Tahsildar Premalatha.
