Udupi: First Koraga woman to assume Assistant Professor Post in University; Sabita Gundmi congratulated by district panchayat

Udupi; Jan 01: District’s first Koraga woman Ms.Sabit Gundmi from the original inhabitants of tribal community, who assumed the post of assistant professor in one of the Universities, was congratulated by Udupi District Panchayat on Dec 31, Tuesday, in Manipal district office complex’s district panchayat auditorium during Udupi district panchayat’s 14th general meeting. Her achievements have been explained in the meeting.

Later, she was felicitated on behalf of district panchayat and department. Nobody from the Koraga community so far ,who are socially, economically and educationally backward in the Udupi district, got an eligibility to teach post-graduate students in University.Dr Babu Koraga, who had been serving as professor at MGM College, was the biggest achievement to date.

But Sabita Gundmi, who passed her national level NET entrance examination to qualify for the post of professor twice once in the year 2010 and another in the year 2013.Recently she got a job of assistant professor at Mangalore University in sociology department.

She was the first Koraga woman to pass NET examination in 2010.The woman, who passed her qualifying examination at state level in 2011,this year she has passed her qualifying examination for research conducted at all India level, now in Mangalore university under  the guidance of Dr.Jogan Shankar undertaken the research process.

Udupi district Panchayat president Upendra Nayak, vice president Smt.Mamatha R Shetty,CEO S.A.Prabhakara Sharma and others after honoring  Sabitha,extended their best wishes to her.
