Bantwal, Dec 28, 2013: A man hailing from Bantwal was arrested by the Delhi police at the Indira Gandhi International Airport recently on the charges of driving his wife to suicide along with her two kids.
The arrest was made on December 18 and the accused was later handed over to the custody of the Bantwal police who have now brought him to BC Road.
The accused husband is identified as Anwar Sadiq who worked for a private company in Saudi Arabia. His wife Mumtaz(28) along with her two kids Fathima Nishan (8) and Khatija Nifa(4) had jumped into the Netravathi river from the railway bridge at Kallaup on June 19. It was then suspected that some family problems had driven her to the extreme step though a suicide note left behind by the woman had claimed that none was responsible for her death.
However, what was gathered later on was that Sadiq had reprimanded his wife for visiting her parental home without his consent. It is also learnt that Mumtaz even had a tiff with her mother-in-law over the issue.
