Kundapur; Dec 17: Brother-in-law, (brother) who was watching the daily assault on sibling sister and members of the family, it was on Dec 16, Monday in a bid of self-protection, when his brother-in-law (sister’s husband) came to assault him (wife’s brother), he brandished the sabre (sword) which proved costlier to sister’s mangalasutra.This incident took place in Kamalashile yelaberu shalegudde on Monday night at around 10.30 pm.
Chandra Achar, son of late Hiriyanna Achar and Smt.Parvathi, aged 36, a resident of Badabalu Shan katte was the victim, who died of sword attack.
Vishwanath (19) became the accused:-
Chandra, who used to come daily with heavy drink, on Monday he started assaulting wife and her family members. When Chandra came to attack Vishwanath (wife’s brother) with sabre, Vishwanath, in order to protect himself from the attack, brandished his sword in reply, resulting the death of Chandra due to serious injuries on his head.
Details of an incident:-
According to the available informations, Chandra Achar,got married with Jyothi,aged 27,daughter of Shesha Achar, a resident of Yelaberu Shalegudde around 9 years ago. Chandra not only used to pick up quarrel with Jyothi under the influence of alcohol but also he doubted her character/chastity.
Carpenter by profession and was staying at wife’s house. But his wife and members of the family became shattered due to his daily torture and harassment. However around three years ago, with the intervention of locals, they compromised and reconciled the matter.
Thereafter he given up his drinking habit and started living near Chonamane by constructing one small hut. Almost for one and half year, he was running his family there. Again 9 month ago, they came back to his wife’s house yeleberu and were staying. He re-started again the habit of daily drinking and picking up quarrel at home for some petty issues, it was told.
It was on last Monday, Chandra, who came late at night inebriated condition, started beating wife and family members for trivial reason. At this moment, brother-in-law Vishwanath (19) who was at home, tried to prevent the scuffle. Then Chandra not only attacked Vishwanath with sharp instrument but also threw sabre from his hand to vishwanath resulting injuries on Vishwanath’s hand.
Injured Vishwanath, in a fit of rage for his self-protection, threw another sabre at Chandra but inadvertently fell on the back side of Chandra’s neck, resulting serious, fierce injuries and breathed his last due to excessive bleeding. For the nine years of their matrimonial life, they got one son Nandish, aged 7 and one daughter Preethi, aged 5-two children
Vishwanatha, was working in a garage at Shankaranarayana, currently he was arrested by the police.
Shankaranarayana police have registered a case in this regard and investigation is on.
Kundapur DYSP, C.B.Patil, circle inspector Divakar and staff, local village panchayat member Nagappa Poojary, Ajre Seneshwara temple’s trustee Ashok Shetty and among others visited the place of incident.
