Mangalore, Dec 9: Acting on a complaint that the college was illegally using electricity, the officials of Mescom vigilance department raided a Manipal dental college located at Attavar.
The complaint was lodged by social worker T S Haneef Saheb against Manipal College of Dental Sciences and Hospital.
The complainant alleged that the college was sourcing power supply illegally from KMC. Accordingly, the Mescom on Monday conducted the raid.
It is learnt, during the raid, the officials came to know that the Manipal College of Dental College had no licence from the MCC and that it was sourcing electricity from KMC Hospital since the past couple of years.
The college is likely to face a whopping penalty of Rs 8 crore if it was proved guilty.
