Pandeshwar Police arrests a thief in swift action & seize 5.1 lac

Mangalore, Dec. 6: Pandeshwara police arrested a thief who stolen Rs.5 lac ten thousand from Tamilnadu based person who was came to Mangalore with his brother on Dec. 6th.

The incident took place near Town Hall Mangalore on Dec. 6th Friday. The accused is identified as Omkar Shetty(30) resident of Ithangi village of Savanuru Taluk Haveri District.

Omkar Shetty stolen Rs. 5 lacs from the Kerala based person Ayyavady(38), who came to Mangalore with his brother. When he reached near Town Hall the thief came and snatches away the bag from victim’s hand and fled.

Ayampady then approached the Pandeshwar police and lodged a complaint. The police swung into action and began a hunt for Omkar. As the crime had taken place near Hampankatta, the police searched the surrounding areas and found Omkar near the Clock Tower.

Upon questioning, Omkar admitted to have stolen the bag containing money from Ayampady.

Omkar works at a juice centre near Lady Goschen hospital and sleeps at Nehru Maidan, sources said.

Pandeshwar police inpector Dinakar Shetty, PSI (crime) Shivarudrappa S Meti eith the constables Vishwanath, Keshav, Gangadhar, Jayaprakash, Sharath Kumar Prakash, Manikanta, Damodar and other police personnel were part of the operation.
